John M. Taylor – New Eagle
John M. Taylor, 85, of New Eagle, died Monday, May 18, 2020, in Southwestern Veterans Center, Pittsburgh. Born June 20, 1934, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of John Y. and Margaret Schultz Taylor. A graduate of the former South Hills High School, John served two years with the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War and the next eight years in the Coast Guard Reserves. He worked for more than 25 years as a technician at the former Westinghouse Plant in Large and then until his retirement as a driver for the local Teamsters Union. A member of the Library Baptist Church (Crossroad Ministries) in Finleyville, John loved playing chess and competing in numerous tournaments over the years. He also enjoyed racing his stock cars on the dirt track circuit. Surviving are his wife of 68 years Dolores Kramer Taylor; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. and LuAnn Taylor of Monongahela; a daughter and son-in-law, Carole and James Noble of Marietta, Ga.; six grandchildren, Mary McCarty-Houser and husband Patrick, Bobby (Jen) Taylor, Krystal (Matthew) Burgess, Jessica Taylor, Amber (Joshua) Rozik and Katharine (Andrew) Joseph; seven great-grandchildren, Wade, Weston, Ryleigh, Chase, Karleigh, Mason, Elleigh and was looking forward to the birth of his eighth in October. Preceding him in death was his son, John H. Taylor, who passed away in 1975; and a brother William Taylor. Due to the restrictions, a private funeral was held on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, in the MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St. Monongahela, 724-258-6767, followed by interment in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
