Charleroi will host a monthly community-wide flea market beginning next month.
The effort, organized by Councilwoman Nancy Ellis, aims to draw residents from around the Valley to the Magic City.
Ellis spoke to Bobby Kosh, owner of The Emporium on Fallowfield Avenue, who helped her come up with the idea.
The flea market will run from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month from July through October. Residents of Charleroi and neighboring communities are welcome to sell.
“If other communities want to be involved, we are happy to have them,” Ellis said. “As long as their borough doesn’t mind, the more the merrier.”
The flea market coincides with the Charleroi farmers market that is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Ellis brought the idea up at a recent council meeting and everyone was on board.
So far, there are participants in more than 20 homes, some of which will host multiple families. Ellis said in addition to lawn sales, the parking lot at Seventh Street and Rego’s will be available.
There will not be a cost to set up in the lot, but spaces must be reserved through the borough.
