Shorthanded BeeGraphix rolls past Campy’s

Limited to just six players, BeeGraphix coach Tim Tyree knew he’d have to have solid contributions from every kid who stepped on the court at Marx’s Court Time Sports Center in Elizabeth Township Thursday night.
That’s exactly what the Monessen native got from his shorthanded squad as it rolled to a 72-51 victory over Campy’s Pizza in Mon Valley Independent Summer Basketball League play.
“I thought our guys battled and we got something out of everyone tonight, which was good,” Tyree said. “All six players brought their game and I think the way the team is structured, you only need five or six guys. We’ll get our offense, it’s just about rebounding and playing defense.”
Like they did in their team’s season-opening win over Elite Physical Therapy on Tuesday, Laurel Highlands standout Rodney Gallagher III and Brayden Reynolds of Chartiers Valley led the charge for BeeGraphix (2-0).
Gallagher poured in a game-high 33 points with 19 at halftime. He also succeeded in getting other players involved, especially in the transition game, rather than doing everything on his own.
“I think that is one of the biggest parts of his game. What a lot of people don’t realize is that he’s very unselfish and a lot of the times he leads in scoring just because he has a natural knack for getting to the bucket and just making baskets fall,” Tyree said. “He does a really great job of playing with pace and getting his teammates involved.”
