The MVI Senior Swing semifinal game between Warriors Fast Pitch and Rams Fast Pitch came down to taking advantage of scoring opportunities.
The Warriors cashed in early Tuesday and held off a young Rams team to advance to the finals with a 10-4 win at Washington Township.
Warriors FP will face Perryopolis tonight at the John DiVirgilio Sports Complex in a battle of teams who played for PIAA gold just over a year ago.
The Warriors scored six runs in the first two innings behind strong bats and some resilient pitching by Shelby Telegdy, who worked out of trouble on more than one occasion.
Rams FP had multiple runners on base in both the first and third innings, but was unable to plate any runs early to combat the Warriors’ early onslaught.
“We need to match (Warriors FP) run for run, we know that,” said Rams coach Gregg Adams. “When we don’t, we start putting ourselves in bad situations. They’re a very good hitting team, they’ve always been and you must match them run for run and we did not.”
