Local pair among newest Cal U men’s recruiting class
By the Mon Valley Independent
Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on intercollegiate athletics, preparations for next season must go on.
Last week, the Cal U men’s basketball program announced its 2020 recruiting class for the upcoming campaign and two names will be familiar to the Mon Valley.
Ringgold guard Chris Peccon and Belle Vernon Area guard Cameron Nusser will continue their careers down river in California.
Peccon, who played under Phil Pergola with the Rams, was a team captain and four-year starter.
He finished his career with more than 1,000 points and shares the single-game school record with 42 points.
The son of Chris Peccon and Lisa Mauro, he played AAU basketball for Next Level Hoops.
Nusser is a sharpshooter, owning the single-game and all-time school records for 3-pointers in Belle Vernon Area history. Ironically, his single-game record came against Peccon’s Ringgold team this past season.
A 5-11 guard, Nusser is the son of John and Betty Nusser. He played AAU ball for PK Flash.
