It wasn’t the start head coach Tommy Rodriguez envisioned.
His Dax Thomas State Farm team allowed too many easy looks and couldn’t get shots to fall in the opening 16 minutes of Wednesday night’s Mon Valley Independent Summer Basketball League matchup with Lee Supply.
“We were very poor defensively and I know we only gave up 23 points in the first half, but the looks we gave up were too easy,” Rodriguez said of his team, which trailed 23-22 at halftime. “If anything, I thought we survived the first half because we couldn’t hit a shot. We really could have been down big.”
State Farm picked things up in the second half on both the offensive and defensive ends to come away with a 54-46 victory over Lee Supply at Marx’s Court Time Sports Center in Elizabeth Township.
State Farm (6-2) went behind by three a little more than midway through the second half before outscoring Lee Supply, 15-4, in the final seven minutes of the triumph.
