Dolores Vernet Kernisky – Monessen

 

Dolores Vernet Kernisky, 90, of Monessen, passed away on July 10, 2020, in UPMC Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh. She was born in Monessen, daughter of the late Harry and Mary Cenkner Vernet. Dolores was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church of Monessen and the church’s Ladies Guild. Dolores was a person of great faith, evidenced by the life that she led. Only three things were of true value to her, faith, family and friends. Her gentle spirit radiated love and kindness to all, and her quiet strength was a testament to her faith. She had supported many charities, with Mount Saint Macrina holding special importance. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Kay Kelly; sons, Fred and wife Mary Jane Kernisky, and Ed and wife Rita Kernisky; grandchildren, Fred, Maria and husband Tim Campbell and Eddie; great-grandchildren, Nina and Nolan; as well as beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Kernisky; and her brothers, Harry Vernet and Joseph Vernet. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where friends will be welcomed from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2020. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, with a Panachida service in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m., followed by Divine Liturgy at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church of Monessen with Father Stephen Wahal officiating.
