Andrew Kostelnik didn’t pick up a single strikeout in Wednesday evening’s Western Pennsylvania Summer Baseball League tournament semifinal matchup against Ingomar.
The Belle Vernon Area hurler did, however, prove you don’t need to rack up the K’s to have a productive outing on the mound.
Despite allowing six hits and walking four, Kostelnik tossed a complete game gem to lead Belle Vernon Leopard Nation into the tournament finals with a 3-1 victory at Boyce Mayview Park.
Kostelnik threw 56 of his 93 pitches for strikes and induced four groundouts and 10 flyouts. He threw first pitch strikes to 18 of the 30 batters he faced.
