McKeesport City Administrator Tom Maglicco and Mayor’s Assistant Jennifer Vertullo on Thursday presented the city’s 2021 operational funding grant proposal for Renziehausen Park to the Allegheny Regional Asset District (RAD) board.
For more than 25 years, RAD has invested in Allegheny County through financial support of public libraries, parks and trails, major regional facilities, arts and cultural organizations, sports and civic facilities, public transit and local municipal services with monies collected via the county’s 1% sales and use tax paid by residents and visitors.
Because of the uncertain economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, capital grant applications for specific capital projects were not accepted this year by RAD. However, the board did accept 112 operating grant applications totaling $107,995,906 that are being considered for the 2021 preliminary budget, which is expected to be released Sept. 24.
McKeesport requested $783,525 in operational funds from RAD for 2021, which represents a 3% increase from last year. The grant application pitch presentations were done via a Zoom meeting.
