The Ringgold School District is preparing to welcome back students Tuesday, and updated information regarding school lunches and the district’s Cyber Academy were released over the weekend.
A collaboration between the district and Intermediate Unit, Cyber Academy is a new asynchronous, video-based learning system.
Students will be able to work through curriculum at their own pace and will be aided in their studies by pre-recorded videos supplemented by learning activities that correspond to them.
In addition to the videos, there are several other means of support for students who may have questions about navigating the system. These support mechanisms include a help desk and an online chat feature that is staffed throughout the day and evening.
Features will be explained to students during their introductory Zoom meetings. Students will also have time to contact their teachers, who will be available after 3 p.m. Teachers will provide feedback to students using the learning management system.
The district will reach out to students and families today to provide them with usernames and passwords to access the Cyber Academy at www.csi.iu1.org/.
Once students receive that information, they will be able to begin to access the Ringgold Cyber Academy through the Fusion Cyber Solution website. Students will also receive information on the times for an introductory Zoom meeting that will show them how to access the orientation video, which explains how to navigate the Moodle and the Cyber Solution site.
The district also named Meghan Cottle as the online education administrator of the program. Cottle is stationed at the high school and will be supporting students in grades K-12. She can be reached at mcottle@ringgold.org.
