Ella Mae Pettyjohn – Rostraver Township
Ella Mae Pettyjohn, 89, of Rostraver Township, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2020, in her home. She was born Feb. 26, 1931, in Cokeburg, daughter of the late Thomas Glenn and Catherine Harmon Glenn Lipscomb. Ella Mae was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ in Monongahela and its Ladies Circle. She was employed at many places, including Federal Enamel, Twin Coaches in Belle Vernon, Marble Gate Motel, 51 Motel and the Rostraver Middle School. She was a faithful Christian woman who always gave tithes and offerings to her church, donated money overseas to help care for two Indian boys and also to Cornerstone Ministries. Ella Mae made sure that anyone who came to her home never left hungry. She enjoyed word searches and jigsaw puzzles. She is survived by her husband, Willie Pettyjohn, with whom she celebrated 72 years of marriage on Aug. 14, 2020; four daughters and two sons, Gloria Minnie of Belle Vernon, Willie Pettyjohn Jr. of Lorain, Ohio, Catherine Clark of Donora, Rosemary Larkin and husband Leonard of North Carolina, Jacqueline Washington of Rostraver Township and David Pettyjohn of Akron, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Parilee Edwards of South Carolina, Lillian “Mickey” Crawford and husband Edward of Sewickley, and Audrey Wheeler of Washington. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020, at The Church of Jesus Christ, 525 Sixth St., Monongahela, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2020, with the Elders Brandon Coppa and Johnathan Nath co-officiating.
