The newest borough police officer may be a familiar face to some.
Andrew Brent Teledgy is a borough resident and former officer.
“He was a policeman for Elizabeth Borough and Clairton a few years back. He’s worked on the railroad and as a heavy equipment operator for the last several years,” said Mayor Barry Boucher.
Boucher administered the oath of office to Teledgy at Tuesday’s borough council meeting after Teledgy went to Harrisburg to become recertified as an officer. The borough has only one full-time officer, Chief William Sombo, with the rest of the positions filled by part-time employees. Teledgy is a part-time officer.
“We just constantly need officers. With part-timers, it’s a revolving door and with other jobs and vacations, there’s always a need for more officers,” Boucher said.
Council voted to hold a Halloween parade this year. The parade is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 26 with a rain date Oct. 29. Trick or treating will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.
Council also gave approval for the Elizabeth Area Development Corporation to hold Light Up Night 6:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 19
