North Charleroi may change fines for illegally parking in the borough.
At Monday’s meeting, Councilman Fred Schwalb said he would like to look into increasing the fines for parking tickets.
“I am not sure what our tickets are right now, but they are small,” he said. “I think that is one of the issues we are having with parking. No one really cares.”
North Charleroi is a member of the Charleroi Regional Police, which enforces parking in the borough, but municipalities are responsible for setting individual rates.
Council plans to compare rates in other communities before it sets a new rate for parking tickets at next month’s meeting.
