When Eben McIntyre steps foot on the soccer field, his presence is acknowledged by everyone around him.
Teammates are always looking to get the ball to him, while opposing players and coaches work to contain him, knowing all too well that it’s easier said than done.
The Charleroi junior once again made his presence felt Tuesday by scoring five goals in the Cougars’ 8-2 nonsection win over Laurel Highlands at Myron Pottios Stadium.
McIntyre reached the 40-goal plateau in the regular season finale, scoring all of his goals in the first 40 minutes. He also inched closer to 100 career goals as he now sits three away from the mark.
“He saw that we definitely needed somebody to step up and he has fit right into that leadership role,” Charleroi head coach Jon Ducoli said. “He’s a great leader and that’s what leaders do, they put themselves into positions the team depends on. For him to step up and step up this big, it’s great for this squad.”
