The McKeesport Area School District announced Monday night that a Founders’ Hall Middle School staff member has tested positive for COVID-19.

That announcement came one day after the district announced it had a total of five students or staff members district-wide test positive for the virus last week.

“As the week begins, we’d like to take this opportunity to update you with a recap of this past week. Across two of our buildings, Twin Rivers Elementary and the High School, we have had three positive cases of COVID-19 in teachers, and two positive results in students,” the district said Sunday.

A statement from the MASD Pandemic Team, which includes Coordinator of Student Services Pamela Gordon, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Tia Wanzo, district spokeswoman Kristen James and MASD police Chief Robert Boyle, said the district continues to stay in contact with the Allegheny County Health Department for guidance.

“We believe that the cases are fully contained, in each instance,” the Pandemic Team said Sunday. “While students have been out of the buildings since Friday afternoon, our custodial department has been hard at work using our disinfectant spray-striker machines to ensure each surface has been treated.”
