Jason M. Walsh, who has worked with the Washington County district attorney’s office for four years, has been promoted to first assistant district attorney.
Walsh, who has served as deputy district attorney, assumed the new role Sept. 25, according to Washington County District Attorney Eugene A. Vittone.
The first assistant district attorney position is a statutory position and serves as district attorney in the event the elected district attorney is unable to serve.
Walsh grew up in Donora and went on to graduate from St. Francis University in 1993 and then Ohio Northern School of Law in 1996.
Before joining the Washington County district attorney’s office, Walsh was in private practice with Bigi and Walsh in Charleroi for 20 years.
In addition to his time in private practice, Walsh previously served as Washington County Children and Youth Services Solicitor for nine years.
During Walsh’s tenure in the district attorney’s office, he has prosecuted major crimes including homicides and other major felonies.
