The Monessen School District received a helping hand to combat the COVID-19 pandemic Monday from one of its graduates.
Justin Brovey, part of Monessen High School’s Class of 1997 and a sales manager for Greensburg-based AssetGenie Inc., visited Monessen Elementary School to distribute essential safety supply kits.
Kits included sanitizer, stands and dispensers, masks and floor decals.
AGI plans to continue donating masks and hand sanitizer throughout the 2020-21 school year and it says it hopes to donate safety supplies to shelters and food kitchens to safeguard their staff and those in need.
The donation was part of AGI’s effort to help 10,000 school districts across the nation safeguard against COVID-19.
“Supplies are hard to find now,” said Monessen Elementary Principal Beth Natali. “Masks for children come in handy as a lot of the masks we have are adult masks.”
Natali said the sanitizer stations were much appreciated.
“We improvised and used little desks, but this will actually spiff up the school a little bit,” she said.
