Domestic violence takes on new characteristics during the coronavirus pandemic and the Blackburn Center is offering two free Zoom seminars through the Rostraver Public Library to help identify the problem.
The free virtual sessions are being offered from 11 a.m. until noon today and from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Registration is required to receive a link to the free Zoom sessions and may be completed at the library’s website.
“People are spending increased amounts of time at home. For some people, that’s great. For others, not so much,” said Naomi Cross, the library director.
Cross said the library has partnered with the Blackburn Center in the past. The nonprofit organization dedicated to nonviolence offers free information and resources to victims of domestic violence and to those who support them.
“They offer credible information to share: how people can take action, what to watch out for and the resources available,” Cross said. “They have trained crisis intervention counselors available 24-7. There is a hotline. They have a wealth of resources for anyone who may find themselves in a dangerous situation. All of their services are free, confidential and can be anonymous.”
