Restaurants, casinos and theaters aren’t the only organizations closing their doors due to Gov. Tom Wolf’s COVID-19 mitigation efforts.
The Monongahela Area Library announced Friday it will return to curbside service today due to the recent surge of virus cases in the area.
The decision means the library will not be open for residents to peruse the book stacks or to use the copy machines and computers.
The library’s hours will remain the same: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. all other days. The library is closed every Sunday.
Library board member Terry Necciai said the change should last approximately two weeks.
“We’re not cutting our hours,” Necciai said. “Call us to see if we have a book. If we have it, we’ll meet you at the door.”
Necciai said the library will also offer curbside copy service.
Patrons can call ahead to request titles from the shelves or utilize the library’s online catalog, www.waggin.polarislibrary.com to request items. A patron’s login is the number on the back of the library card. The password is the last four digits of the primary phone number listed on the account.
Upon arriving at the library for pickup, patrons have the choice to call from their phones or to ring the doorbell on the front door.
