Although Fallowfield Township projects to end 2021 with a deficit, residents won’t see an increase in their taxes.
Supervisors unanimously approved a spending plan Wednesday of about $1.7 million, with expected revenue to come up about $36,000 short. They plan to cover the deficit with cash already in the bank.
The budget for 2020 was passed with an even larger deficit, but the township ended up in the black by year’s end thanks to development at the Alta Vista business park.
“We have put together what we believe to be an honest and true account of our revenues and expenses,” Chairman Bruce Smith said. “Because we have the cash on hand to cover that, being in the red is OK.”
