Corey Yurkovich will make Christmas a littler brighter this year by carrying on a decades-long tradition.
Yurkovich lives in his childhood home in Rostraver Township with his wife, Julie, and three children, Bradley, Cora and Carter.
Each year, he decorates his home just as his father David did — with more than 10,000 vintage lights and decorations.
“This is something my dad started 35 years ago,” Yurkovich said. “I use the same lights he used, all of the same decorations. It looks just like it did in 1986 when he started.”
Before inflatable unicorns, penguins and other holiday characters became popular, familiar holiday faces such as Santa, Rudolph and Mrs. Claus were created through a technique that became popular in the 1930s, blow molds.
