A McKeesport police officer was shot multiple times Sunday outside the McKeesport police station, prompting a massive search and the closure of bridges in and out of the city.
A call came in for an officer down around 5 p.m. The shooting was connected to an incident earlier in the day, Allegheny County police said.
Around 2:55 p.m., Koby Lee Francis, 22, of McKeesport was served with a Protection from Abuse order at the McKeesport Police Department, police said.
About an hour later, McKeesport Police were called to 1505 Yester Square for a report of a PFA violation.
They allegedly found Francis sitting in a vehicle outside of the residence, which is a violation of the PFA.
Francis was taken into custody and a gun was removed from inside of the vehicle, police said.
Superintendent Coleman McDonough said Francis was combative and kicked out the back window of the police vehicle while being transported to the station.
