Two community figures met on Thursday at the Monessen Public Library to clear the air about topics related to the Mon Valley.
Roderick Wilson, a Donora resident and former bishop of the Church of God and Christ in Nova Scotia, met with state Rep. Bud Cook, R-West Pike Run Township, to discuss Cook’s role in investigating November’s general election and bringing new businesses to Donora.
Wilson was joined by his son, Roderick Wilson Jr., 19.
The meeting was requested by Wilson, who said he will take his findings to various organizations like church groups, the NAACP and Urban League, although he said none of those groups were involved with Thursday’s meeting.
“It’s very concerning to me and other people in the Mon Valley that we saw you on CNN and MSNBC saying you’re trying to have the Legislature pick the president,” Wilson said. “As a resident of Washington County, that bothered me.”
After November’s presidential election, Cook and other state Republicans called for Gov. Tom Wolf to perform a full audit of the state’s voting process, and claimed there were 205,000 more votes than voters in Pennsylvania.
Cook said after the meeting he doesn’t recall ever being on CNN or MSNBC news stations.
“We have been getting a lot of input from people,” Cook replied to Wilson. “The biggest question to me, and it continues to be, is was it fair and was it transparent. I’ve been asking for an audit since Nov. 6, and I’ve gotten no response from the governor.”
