Frank J. Galilei – Monessen
Frank J. Galilei, 96, of Monessen, died on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, in Overlook Green, Pittsburgh. He was born on Aug. 6, 1924, in Monessen, the son of the late Alphon-so and Lena Vecchione Galilei. Frank was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a 1942 graduate of Monessen High School. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy Air Corps as a Gunner 3rd Class. Frank was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church, its Holy Name Society and a longtime member of the choir. He was also a member of the Italian-American Heritage Society and American Legion Post 28. Frank loved music and was a member of the Italian Orchestra in Monessen for many years. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen plant, where he was a manager before retiring in 1985. He is survived by a son, Gary (Debra) Galilei of Pittsburgh; two daughters-in-law, Cheryl Galilei of Monessen and Karen Galilei of Bethel Park; eight grandchildren, Joshua Galilei, Rebecca Galilei, Frank G. Galilei, Gina Galilei, Christa Galilei, Jessica Galilei, Christopher Galilei and Lara Galilei; two brothers, Domenic Galilei of Monessen and Alfred (Sylvia) Galilei of Monongahela; great-grandchildren, Madison, Frank, McKenzie and Cora; and nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Trenk Galilei; and two sons, Frank A. and Roger Galilei. Private family visitation was held at Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen, followed by a funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church with the Rev.
