The Elizabeth Forward School District is one of only two districts in Allegheny County to receive a competitive state grant for its school resource officer program.
The school board Wednesday acknowledged the Safe Schools Initiative Competitive School Resource Officer Grant agreement with the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
The grant provides $60,000 for the school resource officer program for the current school year and an additional $30,000 toward the cost of the program for 2021-22.
The district also landed a Federal Emergency Management Agency grant of more than $86,000 toward its costs incurred during the pandemic, including items such as cleaning products and adaptations to keep school buildings safe. The federal funds were funneled through the state’s emergency management program.
