The Ringgold hockey team received a wake up call in an overtime loss at the hands of Connellsville last week.
The Rams bounced back in a big way Monday night, taking down the north division leader in Wilmington, 6-2, in PIHL Class B play at the Rostraver Ice Garden.
Kenny Cadwallader scored a hat trick and added an assist for Ringgold (11-0-0-1), while Nathan Boulanger notched two goals in the second period as the team played without head coach Rick Kalinowski and team captain Zach Kalinowski.
Assistant coach Dave Schneider was pleased to see the team respond after its tough loss to the Falcons.
“Connellsville was a wake up call for us, we took that in stride and came back as a team,” Schneider said. “We felt like this game was to prove that we are still the team to beat. I cannot commend the team enough for how they came out tonight.”
Ringgold goaltender Jerry Mease stopped 22 of 24 shots on the night.
“(Mease) played his butt off, he was the player of the game for us,” Schneider said. “It’s a good rebound for him because he was a little down from the Connellsville game. He’s brought strong performances all season and he wants to be the person to carry the team when they need it.”
