Monongahela Council took another step at Monday’s work session toward acquiring new vehicles for the police department.
According to Councilman Ken Kulak, council finalized a lease agreement for three new Dodge Chargers to serve as police cruisers, which the department hopes will replace its current fleet of Ford SUV vehicles.
Police Chief Kevin Harris said at last month’s council meeting the new vehicles are coming at a much-needed time, especially after a police vehicle was damaged in a collision with a deer Jan. 12.
“We’ve had multiple cars retired without being replaced,” he said at last month’s meeting. “We’re severely short on vehicles right now.”
