MVI Live will return for hoop playoffs
By the Mon Valley Independent
This basketball season has been unique to say the least, but an added development to the season was the continued growth of MVI Live and the Mon Valley Independent’s continued attempts to maintain top notch sports coverage of our local teams.
We’re proud to announce that our MVI Live basketball coverage will continue in the WPIAL basketball playoffs.
Through a partnership with Trib Total Media and the TribLive High School Sports Network, the MVI Live crew will continue bringing you coverage of our local teams.
MVI Live will broadcast and stream WPIAL playoff games exclusively on the TribLive HSSN, with archived games being available for viewing any time at MVIlive.com.
“We’re excited to be able to continue to offer these games to our viewers,” MVI Live producer Chad Carroto said. “We believe our ability to cover games has continued to grow throughout the season, with the quality of commentary and video increasing as well.
“Of course, we wouldn’t be able to do it without the continued cooperation of our local schools and the resources they’ve put in place to stream sports for their student athletes and consumers. The whole team loves doing it because we’re passionate about our local sports and we love supporting our local athletes.”
The partnership between MVI Live and TribLive HSSN tips off Saturday as the crew will broadcast the Serra Catholic boys preliminary round game at noon. The Eagles host Carmichaels.
MVI Live has formulated a schedule of games through Thursday, streaming two games per evening with the exception of Wednesday.
“I think we and the Trib both saw an opportunity to continue providing the best local coverage of high school hoops through this partnership,” Carroto said. “It’s a no-brainer. We’re happy to work with them and having us on board gives them the opportunity to stream some games and gain a larger audience for games.”
Each game will be filed as a feature game on the mvilive.com website with its own page featuring the broadcast, photo gallery and Twitter poll.
“One of the things we try to do is make our page as interactive as possible,” Carroto said. “Being able to add the playoffs to our featured game will just add more traffic to our website and provide great content for our audience.”
Sports editor Jeremy Sellew, assistant sports editor Jose Negron, correspondents Ashley Chase and Dean Dellamalva Jr., as well as Naz Victoria and Olivia Greco will combine to form broadcast teams for the games.
TribLive HSSN general manager Justin LaBar is excited to have the MVI Live group on board to contribute to the Trib’s success at bringing live coverage to fans.
“This is an unprecedented year for WPIAL basketball playoffs and we’re looking forward to furthering our relationship with the Mon Valley Independent to provide the best seat in the house with high quality video streaming,” LaBar said.
