Ringgold School District officials want to put to rest rumors that the district plans to cancel this year’s junior/senior prom.
On Thursday, school board President William Stein met with Superintendent Randall Skrinjorich and assistant superintendent Dr. Cathy Taschner and said the outcome was clear: Do whatever it takes to hold a prom.
“Our staff is working very hard to make sure they have a prom and have a graduation that is normal,” Stein said. “We’re looking at different venues. Instructions have been given to the principals to think outside the box. All the talk that we don’t want to have a prom is just crap. We’re doing our damnedest to make sure there is a prom.”
Stein said the district is looking to hold a prom at the end of May, and a possible venue could be the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium because of its outdoor space.
“We’ll have it in our gym if we have to,” Stein said. “We’re looking at the best possibilities to accommodate as large a group as possible.”
