Officials in New Eagle will look into installing posts or rumble strips in the 400 block of Fifth Ave after a resident alerted them to vehicles driving onto his property and causing damage.
Resident John Gamble, who owns property at 411 Fifth Ave., told council members Tuesday night he’s had three cars drive onto his property in the past two years that knocked down his fence and hit his gas meter.
“It never gets hit at night,” Gamble said. “It gets hit at twilight and they ran.
“The first time, they took the fence down, but didn’t hurt the gas meter. I fixed the fence and didn’t say nothing to nobody. The second time, it tore the gas meter. It had a gas leak and we had to have it taken care of. It no sooner got done, within a month it happened again.”
Gamble said he installed reflectors, a blinking light and the borough even dropped off orange road cones to alert drivers of the narrow road, but that doesn’t seem to help.
“I’m asking to try to see what I can get done to help me,” he said. “It always happens coming from east to the west.”
