Edward V. Fiordigigli – CLEARWATER, FLA., FORMERLY OF MONESSEN
Edward V. Fiordigigli, 87, of Clearwater, Fla., passed away on March 24, 2021. He was born in Monessen on April 14, 1933, the son of Addio Fiordigigli and Loretta Zugaro Fiordigigli. He was a graduate of Monessen High School in 1951 and worked at Wheeling-Pittsburg Steel, Monessen plant, for more than 35 years in the blast furnace. He also worked as a custodian at The Valley Independent and Donora Towers. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Monessen and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Clearwater, Fla. Eddie’s wife of 45 years, Alice Fiordigigli, passed away in 2002. In addition to his wife, Eddie was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Leonardo Fiordigigli. He is survived by his sister, Josephine Hart of Monessen; his daughters, Lori Williams and Lanni Fiordigigli, both of Clearwater, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; one granddaughter, Rayme Lynn (Baron) Rawlins of North Carolina; and grandson, Tommy Jon Williams of Florida; and was a great-grandfather of five. Upon retirement, he moved to Clearwater, Fla., to relax in the sunshine. Upon Alice’s passing, Eddie was lucky enough to spend his latter years in the company of his current partner, Rose Sims. Rose’s daughters and granddaughters welcomed Eddie with open arms and treated him as part of their extended family. The family would like to thank the staff in the hospice unit of Bay Pines VA Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla., for the care they gave to Eddie. He will be interred with his wife, Alice, at the Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, Fla. A small service for family will be held at that location.
