An Easter egg hunt will be held with a twist Saturday in Elizabeth.
Starting at 11 a.m., adults are invited to search for plastic eggs hidden throughout the downtown area, with each egg containing a gift certificate to a local business.
The egg hunt for adults was thought up and organized by Krisa Best, owner of Krista’s Kutz, with assistance from Stephanie Ziacan, co-owner of Simply You. The two Elizabeth business owners thought it would be a great way for local businesses to show their customers appreciation for standing by them through this past year.
“Not one business in our area closed in our little towns through this whole thing, so this is our thanks to the residents who have supported us,” Best said. “It’s a nice way to give back to the community and it gets us out of the house. We’ve been shut up for a year and the kids get to have all the fun.”
Best said she and Ziacan will hide nearly 100 eggs, plus a golden egg that can be turned in for a grand prize worth more than $1,000.
Best said she got the idea for the egg hunt several weeks ago when she walked into a local drug store and noticed empty plastic Easter eggs for sale.
“I just bought all the eggs Rite Aid had. They’re six to a pack and I bought 16 packs,” Best said.
