The Fallowfield Township Municipal Authority, which has not officially operated in more than a decade, has officially been dissolved.
On Wednesday, supervisors unanimously agreed to approve the termination of the FMA, which has not been operational since the Authority of the Borough of Charleroi took over its assets several years ago.
The authority has been recognized by the township and state Department of Community and Economic Development for the past several years, but was not operational.
The former authority was established by ordinance on May 9, 1963.
In July 1997, supervisors extended its term of existence through July 2036. But in 2006, the Authority of the Borough of Charleroi began to handle municipal projects for the township.
For the past 14 years, the board has not held an official meeting. Only three of the seven board members are alive.
Those board members still take calls on behalf of the authority, direct calls to the appropriate agency and provide information to those who request it, but do not have an operating budget or bank account.
