Joan M. Sirianni Pennline – Washington, Pa., formerly of Charleroi
Joan M. Sirianni Pennline, 99, of Strabane Woods in Washington, Pa., formerly of Char- leroi, died on April 3, 2021, in 365 Hospice Care. She was born on Jan. 16, 1922, in West Bethlehem, Pa, the daughter of Rachel and Peter Sirianni. Joan graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1939 and married John Pennline in 1944. They moved to Charleroi in 1952 and were married for 68 years until his death in 2013. Joan was a licensed hairdresser, at one point having her own hair salon in her mother’s home in Cokeburg. She was an active member of the Ladies Altar Society of Mary Mother of the Church. She spent many hours making ravioli and raising funds for the church. Joan enjoyed gardening and belonged to the Charleroi Garden Club, winning numerous awards for her flower arrangements. She and her husband, John, belonged to the Charleroi Golden Agers Club and enjoyed taking various trips, especially to Hawaii. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Kathleen (Tom) Spataro of Canonsburg, Sheila (Gary) Spitzel of Venice, Fla., and Richard (Susan) Pennline of Washington; grandchildren, Alex (Laura) Spitzel of Thorndale, Pa., Jonathon (Maura) Pennline of Avalon, Pa., and Natalie Spitzel of Kirkland, Wash. In addition, she has two step-grandsons, Carmen (Amy) Spataro of Canonsburg and Jamie (Nikki) Spataro of Sewickley. Joan also had many nieces, nephews and cousins with whom she celebrated many holidays. In addition to her parents and husband, Joan was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank Sirianni, Ben Sirianni and Eugene Sirianni; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Sirianni and Josephine Sirianni. Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director. A Catholic blessing will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home, followed by entombment in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
