Arturo Castaneda – Lima, Peru and Monongahela
Arturo Castaneda, of Lima, Peru and Monongahela, died April 11, 2021. He was born Oct. 23, 1962. Arturo was a proud father of two daughters, Hannah and Laura Castaneda, both of Monongahela. He was also a devoted son to Judith Cano and the loving brother of William, Saulo and Theodore “Teddy” Castaneda, all of Lima, Peru. In both the U.S. and Peru, Arturo leaves behind multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Arturo’s life was dedicated to bringing the good news of the Gospel to wherever his life would lead him. If it was the laboratory of Therm-O-Rock, the aisles of Foodland, the halls of California University, churches around the world or simply in the home of a friend, Arturo’s passion was preaching and teaching about the love of Christ. He not only carried the message, but he also lived it. His life was dedicated to the service of the Lord as he pastored pastors and established ministries around the world. If you were a friend of Arturo, he had a nickname or phrase that was personalized just for you. He loved his Pepsi as much as his Inca Kola, and the Pittsburgh Steelers had not a more devoted fan. His daughters were his pride and joy. It did not matter if he were in Peru or in the United States, not a day went by that he did not mention them, reach out to them, and most importantly pray for them. Arturo is mourned deeply by his daughters, mother, brothers and other family and friends whom he leaves behind. This man torn between his love of two nations is now walking the streets of gold and praising God in the home that he always yearned to see and that will one day unite us all in perfect love and unity. It is for certain that Jesus greeted Arturo at Heaven’s gates with the words he lived to hear, “Well done thy good and faithful servant…” Matthew 25:21. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Arturo will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Pavilion 9 in Mingo Creek Park. Pastor Brent Furlong will officiate a celebration of life for a man who loved Jesus, loved his family and loved others. Due to COVID-19, please wear masks and comply with social distancing.
