Restaurant and hospitality business owners in the Mon Valley will be happy to know a new grant is available to help them rebound from COVID-19 shutdowns and restrictions.
On Wednesday, the Mon Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted a webinar with members of the Small Business Administration’s Pittsburgh District Office to announce the new Restaurant Revitalization Fund program, a $28 billion grant to help restaurant owners impacted by the year-long pandemic.
The program was established March 11 by the American Rescue Plan Act, and the portal to accept applications begins Monday.
The chamber’s Executive Director, Leanna Spada, was joined during the webinar by SBA Deputy District Director Regina Puzausky and Business Opportunity Specialist David Pinkosky.
“It’s really important we get this out there and get the knowledge in the hands of small business restaurant owners,” Puzausky said. “As with any grant funding program, your plan is going to be key in how you’re going to use the funds.”
According to Puzausky, $5 billion is set aside for applicants with 2019 receipts of not more than $500,000, $4 billion is available for applicants with 2019 receipts of not more than $1.5 million and $500 million is being given to applicants with 2019 receipts of not more than $50,000.
“The SBA reserves the right to reallocate these funds at the discretion of our administrator,” Puzausky said.
