Warriors shut out Leps, 7-0

Four years ago, a special group of freshmen entered the Elizabeth Forward softball program, pushing head coach Harry Rutherford’s potential retirement back a bit.
Monday, those girls celebrated their senior day in grand fashion.
The Warriors shut out rival Belle Vernon Area, 7-0, behind a dominant performance from starting pitcher Kailey Larcinese.
The Towson recruit struck out 16 Leopards’ batters and now sits eight Ks shy of 500 for her career.
“I was a little tight. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been throwing a lot lately or if it’s because we haven’t played in a while,” Larcinese said. “Winning on my senior day was a big motivator, though. I didn’t want to lose this game. Belle Vernon is a rival and a good hitting team. Luckily, my pitches were working and I had good command of the changeup today.”
