White Oak debates pool policy for Community Day

Admission to Heritage Hill pool was again a hot topic of conversation for White Oak Council at Monday’s workshop meeting.
The subject of pool admission has been part of the discussion at multiple meetings since the coronavirus pandemic began.
This time, council talked about whether the borough should permit all White Oak residents to enter the pool on White Oak Community Day, regardless of whether they have a season pass.
Community Day is slated for 11 a.m. until dark Aug. 7 at Heritage Hill Park, which is also the location of the pool.
“Pool admission is free for pass holders,” an advertisement on the borough’s Facebook page for Community Day states. “There will be no daily admission, pass holders only.”
Councilman George Pambacas brought up that advertisement Monday. He and council President Chuck Davis questioned whether the borough should rethink the decision to only allow season pass holders into the pool on Community Day.
Although the issue was talked about at length, no final decision was made.
Council, in agreement with pool management, earlier this year decided to not allow daily admission at the pool in 2021.
That means anyone wanting to swim at the community pool — whether they be a resident of White Oak or not — is required to buy a season pass. Season pass holders are able to purchase a limited number of guest passes that are good for a single business day at the pool.
