Since graduating from Charleroi High School in 2008, Chad Pappasergi has spent more than a decade compiling an impressive coaching resume.
From serving as an assistant boys basketball coach under his father, Bruno Pappasergi, at California to joining Phil Pergola’s coaching staff at Ringgold, Pappasergi has gained valuable experience over the course of his career.
Now, he’ll have the opportunity to lead his own team for the first time at the high school level.
Pappasergi was hired by a unanimous vote Tuesday to become the new head boys basketball coach at South Park. He replaces former coach Jason Dolak, who resigned last month.
“I’m humbled, I’m grateful and I’m excited,” Pappasergi said. “I can’t thank South Park enough for taking a chance on me.”
Pappasergi admits he’s always aspired to have the opportunity to serve as a coach.
He has fond childhood memories of drawing up plays while being around his father and longtime head coach Bill Wiltz.
Those two, and a long list of others that include Pergola, Mickey Hornack and Jimmy Williams, have helped mold Pappasergi into the coach he is today.
“When I was a player, I loved preparing more than I loved playing. It’s something that has always been in me, to want to be a head coach,” Pappasergi said. “I’ve been around some really good people that I trust and they have really guided me in a way I will be eternally grateful for.”
