Pool policy will remain in place for Community Day

No pass, no Heritage Hill Pool for Community Day.
That’s the decision reached Monday by the majority of White Oak council and the council recreation committee.
The action was recommended by pool management and is supported by council and the White Oak Borough Office of Emergency Management, according to council recreation committee members George Pambacas and Julie Opferman.
White Oak Borough Community Day is slated for Aug. 7 at Heritage Hill Park.
Pambacas and Opferman said it wasn’t an easy choice to make, but after hearing the thoughts and concerns of pool management and borough first responders, it was agreed that only season pass holders and their guests holding guest day passes will be admitted into Heritage Hill Pool on Community Day.
The duo said there’s still time for residents and non-residents of White Oak to purchase season pool passes, and there are plenty of Community Day activities all borough residents, including those without pool passes, can enjoy.
At last week’s workshop meeting, council discussed whether all borough residents would be permitted into the pool on Community Day, despite a decision prior to the pool opening on Memorial Day that — as a result of coronavirus pandemic mitigation efforts and contact tracing strategies in place — the pool wouldn’t offer daily admission.
Council and pool management agreed in April that residents and non-residents would only be permitted into the pool, including on Community Day, if they registered for and purchased a season pass. Season pass holders must scan their passes when entering and exiting the pool facility in an attempt to keep solid records in case a COVID-19 contact tracing effort becomes necessary.
