By obits

On July 14, 2021, Trooper Thomas J. Weible, 82, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Tom will now be reunited with his beloved wife of 43 years, the late Beverly Kmetz Weible. Tom was born in Monessen on March 27, 1939, a son of the late John P. and Elizabeth Csakovics Weible. Tom served his country as a sergeant in the U.S. Army and then became a member of the Pennsylvania State Police. He served the Commonwealth for 26 years until his retirement in 1995. Trooper Weible wore many hats throughout his life: a son, brother, husband and father, but nothing brought him more joy than being a grandfather. For more than 40 years, Thomas was a member of the Sportsman’s Association of Greensburg, where he practiced his love of shooting, hunting and fishing with his son and grandson and granddaughter. He served as president of the association from 1993-1994. He served two terms as vice president, along with being the chairman of the fish, rifle and pistol committees. Tom also took the time to teach pistol and Hunter Safety Education Classes. Tom was a founding member of a small social group within the association known as “The Fish House Gang.” Tom had also belonged to several other sportsman’s clubs, the Frank J. Kelly Lodge No. 62 of the F.O.P. and was an endowment member of the NRA. Surviving are his son, Jon J. and wife Jennifer Weible, and their son, Jon Jr. Jennifer was his caregiver for the past 10 years of his illness. Also surviving are his daughter, Lori Beth and husband Jeromy Hanscom and their daughter, Hailey; his sister-in-law, Barbara Weible; and niece, Valerie Weible; and nephew, Kevin Weible. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where friends will be welcomed from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2021. A blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Father Michael Crookston officiating. Interment will follow at the Belle Vernon Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Trooper Weible’s name may be made to the Pennsylvania State Police Museum, 187 E. Hershey Park Drive, Hershey, PA 17033. Online condolences may be conveyed to the family at www.rhomefuneralhome.com.
