Maria L. Horton – Donora
Maria L. Horton, 78, of Donora, passed away Friday, July 16, 2021, at Monongahela Valley Hospital in Carroll Township. She was born in New Eagle, on Feb. 14, 1943, daughter of the late Amador and Anita Medina Fernandez. Maria was a graduate of Donora High School, Class of 1960. She courageously fought many health battles, including rheumatoid arthritis, without ever showing how much pain she was in. Despite her struggles, she always put others’ needs before her own. Her family was her whole world. She leaves behind her loving soul mate of 57 years, her husband, Clyde L. Horton. Also left to cherish her memory are her beloved son, Clyde II and his wife Margaret, who was the daughter she never had. Her pride and joy were her two grandsons, Camren and Caden Horton. She enjoyed watching them play multiple sports over the years along with celebrating every holiday, birthday and milestone of their lives. She took the title of being their loving Buela as a badge of honor from her mother. She is also survived by a brother, Ricardo (Kathleen) Fernandez of Virginia; a sister-in-law, Alice (Horton) Kosh; a host of nieces and nephews; and her fur babies, Zeke and Zeus. She also leaves behind many special family and friends who were always there for her in her time of need. She really appreciated and loved those special helpers. Maria loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals and baking treats for her family. She was an avid needlepointer and reader. She was also a very active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Donora. Arrangements have been entrusted to ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Donora, PA 15033, 724-379-6900, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2021.
