For most of the season, the Mill Run baseball team was able to take advantage of mistakes by opponents and turn those mistakes into wins.
On Tuesday, the tables turned as Mitch’s Bail Bonds put together a six-run inning highlighted by a pair of costly Mill Run errors.
The big inning paved the way for Mitch’s Bail Bonds to earn an 8-2 road win in the third and deciding game of the Fayette County Baseball League semifinal series. Mitch’s Bail Bonds won the series, 2-1 and will play Masontown in a best-of-five championship series, beginning on Thursday at Masontown.
The Series will alternate sites Friday and Sunday, and if necessary on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
For Mill Run (13-5), it was a disappointing end to the season after finishing with the FCBL’s best record in the regular season and winning the first game of the short semifinal series.
“We were just kind of flat the whole game,” Mill Run coach Ray Orndorff said. “Then they had the big inning in the third and we never caught up. They came out and put the bat on the ball and we mishandled a few. It was plays that could have been.”
