Lorraine A. Walker Nelson – Belle Vernon
Lorraine A. Walker Nelson, 94, of Belle Vernon, Washington Township, passed away Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021, at Mon Valley Hospital, Monongahela. Born April 10, 1927, in Charleroi, she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. Walker Sr. and Alice Lessman Walker. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mrs. Nelson was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon, was a homemaker, enjoyed crocheting, traveling and playing cards and bingo at the Center on the Hill. Lorraine also enjoyed baking and was well known for her cookie trays but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her three children, Robert W. Nelson Jr. and wife Pamela of Belle Vernon, Patricia A. Canigiani and husband Thomas of Perryopolis, and Christopher T. Nelson Sr. and wife Cindy of Belle Vernon; seven grandchildren, Aaron (Meredith) Nelson, Amber (Jesse) Gagich, Thomas (Carol) Canigiani, Nicole (Denise) Canigiani, Adam (Jessica) Canigiani Sr., Shannon (Ryan) Moncini, Christopher (Freya) Nelson Jr.; eight great-grandchildren, Lila Nelson, Brett Nelson, Rachel Canigiani, Heather Canigiani, Adam Canigiani Jr., Dominic Moncini, Ariana Moncini, Emma Moncini; brother, Joseph J. Walker Jr. of Charleroi; and sister, Dolores Harhai of Monessen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Nelson Sr. in 2008; and sister, Alberta White. Visitation will be private for the family at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Prayers of Transfer will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. public funeral Mass at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston as celebrant. Entombment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
