Virginia “Sue” Ramey Vigliotti, 80, from Monongahela and New Eagle, passed away at Transitions Healthcare LLC in Washington, on Friday, Sept. 17, 2021. She had endured treatment for long-term lung disease. Born July 10, 1941, in Elkhorn City, Ky., Virginia was the sixth child of 10 children born to the late Otto and Edna Potter Ramey. Virginia moved to the Mon Valley in 1963, when she married Carmen Vigliotti, who died in 1986. After that, she was employed by Red Lobster and The Maids. She had many interests, such as cookie and candy making and crocheting. After moving to the John Lignelli building in New Eagle, she enjoyed bingo and other activities. While isolated by the pandemic in a care center, Virginia wrote her memoirs and gifted her family and friends with her book to celebrate her 80th birthday. Along with her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Allen and Sherman Ramey; and by three sisters Dolores Darnell, Anna Rae Cantrell and Sadie Bove. Virginia is survived by one brother, Joseph (Jeannie) Ramey of Georgia and two sisters: Leona Thomas of Tornado, W.Va. and Vada Matney of Elkhorn City, Ky. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and devoted friends. Friends will be received at the MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com, from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, at which time services will begin with Virginia’s nephew, David Ramey, from the Church of Christ in Road Creek, Ky, officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in her name to the church of your choice.
