John Barbero Memorial Auction returns with new format, but same ‘great cause’

“New style, same great cause.” The event has a bit of a different format than it has in the past, but the Mon Valley YMCA John Barbero Memorial Auction Fundraiser opened Wednesday. In its 11th year, the fundraiser benefits programming for members of all ages at the Mon Valley YMCA, but event coordinator Vic Vitale said much of the money raised via the annual event benefits youth and teen programs at the YMCA. Vitale said the event carries the same name, but the format isn’t an auction this year. Instead it’s a raffle event, with many of the items packaged as baskets.
