David Lee Kissler, 71, died on Monday, Jan. 10, 2022, of heart failure at UPMC Shadyside. Son of the late Hugh and Bertha Daugherty Kissler, Dave lived in the Belle Vernon area most of his life. He was a graduate of Belle Vernon Area High School, Class of 1968. After graduation, he attended Penn Technical Institute of Electronics before joining the U.S. Army, serving in Frankfort, Germany, in the V COSCOM unit of the I.G. Farben building. After leaving the service, he worked for a short time repairing radar on riverboats. He was employed by Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel in the blooming mill and then at the rail mill until it closed. He graduated from California University of Pennsylvania with a degree in accounting and worked for Pressley Ridge Schools in Pittsburgh and Greensburg until his retirement. He was a former member of First Baptist Church of Belle Vernon, where he served as a deacon. Mr. Kissler was a lifelong member of the Boy Scouts, serving as a leader and committee member of Troop 1561 in Fairhope. He played more than 50 years in the Mon Valley Men’s Dartball League and served as vice president. Dave loved the outdoors and volunteered for many years in Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dr. Linda Keracik Kissler; his son, Brian Charles Kissler of Chicago; his daughter, Brea Amber Kissler of Belle Vernon; and the light of his life, his granddaughter, Addie Beth Kissler, also of Belle Vernon. At the request of the family, a private prayer service was held at the Kisslers’ home with Pastor Donald Glunt of Rehoboth Presbyterian Church.
