Frank V. ‘Moe’ Vizza – Belle Vernon
Frank V. “Moe” Vizza, 90, of Belle Vernon, passed away from complications of COVID-19 on Monday, Jan. 31, 2022, in Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. He was born on Feb. 7, 1931, in Monessen, the son of the late Emilio and Tressa Zimmaro Vizza. Moe attended Monessen Schools and went on to join the U.S. Army, serving his country during the Korean War. After coming out of the service, he worked for Magura’s Clothing selling men’s suits. He then became a salesman for the John G. Check Furniture Store in Monessen and later for Freight Liquidators in Pleasant Hills. In addition to being a salesman, Moe was president of the New Alpine Club in Monessen for many years where he also bartended part time. Moe was very involved in the Monessen community, having served on the school board for the City of Monessen School District for 14 years, was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church, the Knights of Columbus No. 954, American Legion Post 28, and V.F.W. Post 1190, where he was currently serving as commander. He was also a former longtime member of the Monessen Lions Club. When you ran into Moe, he would have a smile on his face, a cigar in his mouth, and would be giving the raspberries to someone. Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Charlene (Edward) Fechter of Taneytown, Md., Doreen T. (Gary) Smith of Monessen, and LuAnne (Daryl) Johnson of Mount Washington; sister, Rosalie Nicksich of Monessen; two granddaughters, Janell Johnson and Abigail Smith; his companion of 21 years, Becky Wilson; and by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Perotti Vizza, in 1999; two brothers, Alfred (Dorothy) Vizza and Joseph (Joann) Vizza; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Nicksich. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022, at DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen.
