Sophia Mucha Krill – Katy, Texas, formerly of Belle Vernon
Sophia Mucha Krill, 93, recently of Katy, Texas, formerly of Belle Vernon, fell asleep in the Lord on Feb. 6, 2022. Born Dec. 26, 1928, in Alicia, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Sophia Hudivok Mucha. Sophia graduated from the former Masontown High School, earned a home economics degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a master’s equivalent from Penn State University. She began her education profession as a home economics teacher in Gettysburg and continued teaching in McKeesport and Rostraver before completing her remaining 26 years of teaching at Frazier School District, retiring in 1991. She was a member of Holy Resurrection Eastern Orthodox Church, Belle Vernon, treasurer of St. Barbara’s Altar Guild for 25 years, a member of the church choir and was actively involved in all church activities. She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy Krill Pcsolyar and S. Alan Pcsolyar of Newtown Square, and Kathy Krill Bassila and Nouhad Bassila of Katy, Texas; two sons and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Laurice Haddad Krill of Sugarland, Texas, and Richard Krill of Spring, Texas; eight grandchildren, Joseph and Jordan Krill, Timothy and Jenine Krill, Michael and Emily Krill, Nika Pcsolyar Bitsko and John Bitsko, Joshua and Emma Solak Pcsolyar, Daniel Pcsolyar, Michael and Victoria Christensen Bassila and John Bassila; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Krill, whom she married July 26, 1953; sisters, Mary Mucha Stretton, Julia “Jaye” Mucha Minchik, Helen Mucha Wallace, Margaret Mucha Glagola and Anna Mucha Patrick; and brother, Lt. Col. Daniel Mucha. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-9296183. Parastas service will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Relatives and friends will gather directly at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church for funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2022, with the Very Rev. Stephan Gresh officiating. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The family requests that memorial donations be made in memory of Sophia to Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church.
