Paul Spence – formerly of Elizabeth
Paul Spence, formerly of Elizabeth, passed away on Feb. 17, 2022, in Tampa, Fla. He was born in Monongahela to the late Joseph Albert Spence and Bertha Isaac Spence on March 4, 1929. He married the love of his life, Lois Fay Scurfield, on Feb. 20, 1954. They were married 67 years when she passed away on April 8, 2021. Paul graduated from Elizabeth Forward High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. After the military, he went back to school and became a draftsman. Most of his career was spent working for the U.S. Steel Corporation in Pittsburgh. Paul and Fay retired to Hudson, Fla., in 1994. They enjoyed playing golf, socializing with their good friends and neighbors from The Preserve in Hudson and many new adventures on vacations. Paul was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Albert Spence Jr. (Rose); and his sisters, Margaret Van Kirk Lape (Albert), Eliza J Towner (Elmer) and Norma Simmen (Oscar). Left to cherish his memory are many loving nieces and nephews. Paul enjoyed telling and sharing a good joke. He and Fay were fun to be around, but most important Paul was an honorable, kind and loving man. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to TRINITY MEMORIAL GARDENS IN TRINITY, Fla.
